New Manager Programme (range of 1/2 day modules)

The New Manager programme is a comprehensive series of modules designed to provide managers or team leaders with the techniques to lead their team and manage work situations effectively. The modular sessions aim to develop skills to motivate and encourage staff, to improve communication within the organisation and to lead a team that achieves the results required.

Modules include:

Appraisal Skills (1 day)

This interactive one-day workshop equips key staff and managers with the skills to conduct effective staff appraisals. Features of a good appraisal system, setting staff objectives and assessing performance are covered along with the opportunity to try out effective techniques in a role-play scenario.

Presentation Skills (1 day)

An ideal course for those required to give presentations but need help in producing presentations that create impact by incorporating professional delivery techniques. The course includes the analysis, planning and delivery of presentation material on topics relevant to their work. Day one covers the theory and development of material whilst day two involves the delivery of a 20 minute presentation (recorded) and the provision of thorough analysis & feedback.

Interview & Selection Techniques (1 day)

Choosing the best person for the job should never be left to chance. This practical 1 day course will explain a highly effective, planned approach to interviewing & selecting the right staff. As part of the day participants will practice the art of successful interviewing.

Facilitation Skills – 1 day

Often people are asked to facilitate sessions and don’t understand what’s involved. This one-day course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of key facilitation skills & techniques. Learn how to prepare for the session, use different techniques to achieve desired results and handle group members and situations. In the afternoon of the workshop delegates will be involved in the practical facilitation of a session.

Introduction to Project Management (1 day)

In today’s competitive business world managers & team leaders must deliver results on time & within budget. This one day project management workshop will help you to plan, run & monitor a project. It provides answers for when things go wrong as well as advice on schedules, budgets, leadership & communication to result in the successful completion of any project. Throughout the day participants will use a work-based project to plan & develop.

Finance for Non Financial Managers (1 day)

Finance is one of the most important functions in any organisation & an understanding of the fundamental figures & financial statements is the key to successful management. This one day programme provides a simple explanation & examples of the 3 key financial statements for businesses – the cash flow statement, profit & loss account & balance sheet. By the end of the day participants will be able to produce a simple cash flow statement as well as prepare & analyse a sample profit & loss account & balance sheet.

Report Writing (1/2 day)

This course is ideal for any one who is required to produce reports & needs them to create a professional image. During the ½ day workshop we provide an explanation of the steps involved in report writing, the required preparation & planning plus tips & techniques for producing quality reports.

Taking Effective Minutes (1/2 day)

A successful meeting is not purely the discussion and decisions that takes place, but also the accurate recording of the meeting minutes. This practical ½ day workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the role of the minute taker, the structure of a meeting, & the necessary minute taking support. It presents methods & formats of note taking and looks at common obstacles & tips.
